Fixed Electrical Testing and Inspection and CompEx for Petrol Filling Stations

Electrical testing and wiring installation inspection

Electrical testing and inspection of the wiring installation in every building is mandatory under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. The regulation states that all electrical installations in a working environment should be in a safe condition and that an electrical inspection and testing programme should be undertaken. This will ensure that when deterioration or damage occurs, it can be identified and repaired or upgraded.

Responsibility for the safety of all persons using a premises and its equipment lies, according to The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, with the ‘duty holders’ and applies to both employer and employee.

Organisations such as insurance companies place an obligation on their clients to carry out periodic electrical testing on their insured premises. If this is not completed within the recommended guidelines, it may lead to a buildings insurance policy to become invalidated.

By using our team of NICEIC Approved Electrical engineers, you can be assured that our testing programme and documentation complies to the all relevant safety standards and that the equipment used is fully maintained, calibrated and at the forefront of technology.

At the end of any testing programme an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) will be provided as part of our audit and compliance service. This will detail the extent and results of the inspection and testing and list any recommendations for remedial actions that should be taken to ensure compliance with the current standards.

For electrical testing and maintenance to be conducted within hazardous zones in petrol filling stations there is a legal obligation to ensure the work is completed by CompEx qualified engineers. In addition to our NICEIC Approved Contractor status, OCS also hold the NICEIC Hazardous Area extension ensuring only CompEx qualified electrical engineers carry out the electrical testing and maintenance at petrol filling stations sites across the Ireland. OCS are one of a very small number of contractors able to offer this specialised service.

Our compliance team will work with you to ensure that not only is the installation compliant, but that you are aware of improved technologies which help provide a sustainable and safer working environment.
