Paralympics Ireland held a partner networking event on Friday last the 11th of November in the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick for all their sponsors. On the day OCS was represented by OCS Regional MD, Europe Cecil Ryan and OCS Senior Sales & Marketing Administrator, Claire Feeney.
The day began at 09:30 with a welcome note by Paralympics Ireland Partnership Manager, Patrick Haslett, and Paralympics Ireland President, Jimmy Gradwell, and then Paralympics Ireland Performance Director, Nancy Chillingworth spoke about the importance of training camps for all the paralympic athletes.
Mid-morning the group of partners were given a tour of the sports facilities at the University of Limerick where the majority of paralympic athletes were training and would continue to over the weekend at the Renault 2011 Training Camp. The tour of the sports centre provided partners with the opportunity to meet the athletes and to experience the following Irish Paralympic sports; boccia, cycling on a tandem bicycle and table tennis.
After lunch three (Paralympic Swimmer, James Scully, Paralympic Discus Thrower, Orla Barry, and Paralympic Rower, Kevin Du Toit) Irish Paralympic athletes participated in a questions and answers session which was led by Paralympics Ireland Communications Officer, John Fulham.
Coaching Ireland and Vice President of Paralympics Ireland, Liam Moggan spoke to the group of partner’s mid-afternoon about the importance of ‘Putting the person back into the people business’, which involved open discussion, team work inititives and problem solving. Liam is renowned for his motivational talks at the partner networking sessions.
The day concluded at 15:45 with Paralympics Ireland Chief Executive Officer, Liam Harbison highlighting recent and forthcoming events for Paralympics Ireland.
