Health and Safety
Protecting the health and safety of our workforce
Plan, Do, Check, Review – a simple message to all our employees and one that sums up our commitment to safety. It is this approach that engages our whole team to improving safety in the workplace.
Managing health and safety is a primary focus for us. We strive to look after our own health and safety, and that of others, by reporting potentially uncontrolled hazards, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions or non-compliances. It is the active engagement of all of our teams that leads to improved safety in the workplace.
We recognise and fully accept our responsibility for the wellbeing of all stakeholders, including our clients, employees, temporary workers and contractors, any others who may be affected by our acts or omissions, and the environment.
We have a robust safety management system that provides a solid framework in which to operate. Measuring safety performance is important to us and we operate an Accident Reporting Centre (ARC) which gathers accident and ‘near miss’ information. Management information from the ARC is reviewed regularly and assists in planning for continual improvement. Operational management are supported by a highly qualified and experienced team of safety advisors.
We recognise the benefit of innovation and invest in technology to help improve safety performance and to help managers comply with their health and safety responsibilities.
Health and safety awareness forms a critical part of our induction process and training is provided on an on-going basis throughout an individual’s OCS career. We have a wide variety of e-learning courses available in order to raise awareness of health and safety to all staff.
Our directors are committed to ensuring that our HSQE management system retains its registration to OHSAS 18001, IS0 14001 and ISO 9001.
